Where I’m At Now In Music = 2011

Hello fans out there,

Well, July is almost here. I don’t know what I got planned for it but i’m sure i’m gonna do something i guess.

Today, I decided to update on where i’m at musically in my life as of this year 2011. Some are good and some are not as I pictured as I wanted to be, to add with that, struggles and hopes that did not come true.

Last year was probably the best year I had in my life, because everything besides music was good, there were some downfalls but I can’t complain about. So, what this is a comparison from last year to this year.

In 2010:

I’m still in Atlanta, Georgia but was living in another location in Decatur, which I didn’t want to move to.

I was in a relationship with a white girl but unfortunately we had to break up because of some bad stuff going on in her life and ending up being single for the rest of the year.

I was working at a job that I didn’t wanna work at because of them cutting my hours and lousy pay but after working there for 2 years, I had to quit in August because I was moving to a further location.

I brought me a REAL new studio mic that has outstanding quality and got rid of my non-studio quality mic, got a MAC computer that has a great mixing system that called Garageband, and still got the windows computer for only making beats, Oh yeah, I also got a windows laptop as well.

I also had my Sanyo video camera, which was only a high quality camera, it’s was ok to use but later in the year, my sister dropped and broke the camera then 3 months later, I brought a HD camera with great quality.

I released 3 mixtapes (“The Redprint” in March 2010, “The Redprint 2″ in November 2010, and “Ministry Music Vol.1″ in December 2010 and my debut album “The King With Swagga” in August 201o). The Redprint mixtape got over 200 downloads and my song “Never Been A Lame” became a hit song but not a BIG hit popular song. Ministry Music mixtape debuted with over 170 downloads, not bad. The downfall was my album TKWS, Only 3 people brought my album, yeah I was disappointed, my goal was to get 10 copies sold, so I just decided to just drop mixtapes for free.

NOW, In 2011:

I moved back in Glenwood, which is located in Decatur, GA but this time, close by similar to where I was living in a year ago.

I’m sort of self-employed at the moment, most times I be bored so I just make beats and sell them to make me some money but it’s great to not deal with people on a regular tho.

I have no girlfriend, and I haven’t had no luck finding the right girl yet.

Still got the same material I had last year, my iMac computer, my real studio Samson mic, and the same other windows computer to make beats on, and still have my windows laptop only to use the internet in my room and stuff. I also got a new flip HD camera.

I released 3 mixtapes (“The Redprint 3″, “Go Hard Or Go Home” and just recently released new my project “Regeneration: The Hip Hop Recovery”), RP3 flopped but I recently re-released it, GHOGH was one of my best mixtapes but never gotten any feedback from it but from all sites and alternate download links, it’s combined of 126 downloads, which is not bad but I just wish I get more recognition for the that mixtape, and my newest mixtape Regeneration, I gotten some feedback from only the original people that I always get feedback from but haven’t got any from people besides them. I don’t think that my projects flopped intentionally or because of the songs, it’s just that I don’t have enough fanbase or I didn’t noticed by anybody yet.

So, right now, everything with my music is going bad, I feel like I been working hard on music for nothing. I been doing music for 11 years and nothing has changed. I performed at events, didn’t get nothing accomplished. Also I realized that I don’t get views and comments like I used to YouTube. It seems like my YouTube fanbase is dying on me and that the last thing I expected to happen. I try to promote my stuff but people don’t care and now, i’m at the point where i’m about to just give up my passion, hopes and dreams on music, i’m praying that something change soon, if not then I have no choice but give it up and find another thing to do.

That’s it. Only God knows where do I go from here. See yall later.

K.K.O.F. – Box Kutta (feat. Jorge Fuenez) video!

This is the music video is for the song “Box Kutta” (feat. Jorge Fuenez)

Song available on K.K.O.F.’s “The Redprint 3″ mixtape

ABOUT THE SONG:

Well, this all started when I was working on my artist Jorge Fuenez mixtape “The Contraband Man”, but even before that, I was bored one night, so I decided to make a beat, I wasn’t aware for what I was gonna use it for yet but I wanted to do a hype style beat, so I made one and it was hype to def.

I think it was about a week after I made the beat, I check my email and I got the verse vocals from Jorge Fuenez to mix with a song called “Humility” from his latest mixtape “The Contraband Man”, which is a classic mixtape by the way.

Than a couple weeks later as I was in the studio recording songs, I happen to go through my files in my hard drive and found the same beat I made a couple weeks back, so I was in recording mode, I wrote about 60% of the verses but didn’t have no hook yet, after I wrote the verses, I went ahead and recorded the verse I wrote and then after I recorded, I decided to go in my files and find a sample where I can place a chorus on the song. I listened to Jorge’s verse from Humility , I listened until I got to the last line of his verse, in his that line he said “I look sharp, I rock shutters, you can fight me, or you can box kutta”, I thought that was the tightest line I ever heard. BTW, Kutta is the 2nd “K” in my name K.K.O.F. (King Kutta On Fire), so I used as a hook because it kinda sounded like it could be a chorus for song. I named the song “Box Kutta”, yeah I know it’s crazy. Jorge had no idea I sampled his verse and made it in a hook but he liked it. I think he likes it when I sample his verses. Thanks Fueezy!!

ABOUT THE VIDEO:

Well, we was supposed to do the video back in the beginning of the year but Jorge had school at the time and didn’t have time so I had to leave it alone for a while but I almost forgot about doing the video but i’m glad he reminded because I wanted to do the video so bad and I really like this song.

Since Jorge was finished with school, he went ahead and did some clips to the video. He sent me one clip but did two different scenes of his part where he mouthing his words, one shot was regular, which was toward the camera and the other one was him facing towards the side.

I ended up shooting my two clips 3 days after he sent his to me. One of my shot was in my backyard and the other shot was with me on all red with the Kanye West shades on. Oh, there’s also a shot where I was drinking Pepsi, haha, had to do something crazy.

It took me an hour and 47 minutes to edit this video. It was worth it. That’s all I got for now. Lookout for my new mixtape “Regeneration: The Hip Hop Recovery” dropping June 20th!

Introducing…Yung KK – “From Ragz 2 Richez” debut mixtape!

Yung KK – From Ragz 2 Richez mixtape

You’re probably wondering who is Yung KK, let me tell you who he is. Yung KK is my younger cousin and also an artist to my label Swagg Tyme Nation. Yes, he’s rookie but he is just an young street rapper. Some people disagree with his style of music while other like what he is feeding the streets. Even though he been in the game for a year, he still have to learn a few things about being an artist.

He started working on mixtape in late March, when I heard him spit, to be honest, it wasn’t the best I heard from him but one thing I noticed is that he does write but on the side of that difference is he is only 15 years old. His downfall to his music is that he be high sometimes and he refuses to even write and think creative instead of talking what any rapper will talk about but when he is not high, he is a little creative, he will throw a punchlines every once in a while but he still lacks subject matter and flow. He has concept hooks tho, which the only thing impressed me. Me, the VP Jorge Fuenez and President Fred talked about the mixtape but Jorge was not impressed at all with the mixtape, he thought he could a lot better with his flow. Me and Fred kinda expected this anyway because usually when rappers debut in the game, they will talk about the usual typical stuff, like money, drugs and violence, I used to talk about that stuff when I first came into the game but I stopped talking about that stuff 5 years ago, why, because I don’t do that type of stuff, it’s not me, I trashed all that kinda music. I have improved over the years on my flow, lyrics, subject matter and coming up with original content, i’m considered a legend because i’m 11 years in the game. Jorge thought that his friend Bossie Breed out-did him on his music but hopefully, KK will learn these things about the rap game, if he don’t, then people is not gonna like his music. Personally, I don’t think his mixtape was all that bad but if he can take criticism then it will help him in the long run. Not saying he is wack but he just need to work on somethings. I’m not the type of person to judge people of how they do their music.

The mixtape itself has the most production by me, others by Peanskean, Beats Planet and Vybe Beatz. The beats on the mixtape are BANGIN’ tho. So if you like Yung KK’s music, check it out.

Jorge Fuenez & K.K.O.F. Live Performance @ Redlight Cafe!

REGENERATION: The Hip Hop Recovery EP drops June 20th!

This video above is a footage of Jorge Fuenez featuring K.K.O.F. live show at The Redlight Cafe.

SHOW INSIGHT:

The last time I was booked to the Redlight Cafe was on March 20th along with Jorge Fuenez but we both performed solo. Now this past Sunday on May 29th, I didn’t get officially booked to perform but Jorge did. As for me, Jorge asked me to be his hype man, at first, I wasn’t sure if I was able to make it because I had some important stuff to do around the 29th to May 31st but I manage to make it there anyway, so I agreed to be his hype man because he really wanted me at his show, I thought was nice of him. Thanks Jorge.

Jorge’s last hype man was former STN artist Hard Knox, he pretty just stumbled and froze through the performance, I guess maybe it was his first time or something like that  but Jorge has a lot of stage experience, meaning that it’s not his first time being on stage. Hard Knox, take notes on being a hype man. This is my first being someone’s hype man and I did a great job.

The show itself didn’t have much people like it was the last time we were there but we put on a great performance. Technically, we was supposed to go on first but the host of the show Tino Panama decided he wanted Jorge to be in the middle of the list so more people can see him. I guess we was ok with that but on the previous show, Jorge was the first to perform but I told I was supposed to go on at 8pm but I ended up going on stage at 9:46pm, Smh, otherwise we had a good performance.

The song you us performing on the video above are “Humility” (off Jorge’s THE CONTRABAND MAN mixtape) and “Thrift Squad” (which is originally by myself, Jorge and the hook by Cash Browns – the song will be available on my next mixtape coming August 2011), the video  above I made above is a customized version but Jorge also performed 3 more songs as well, “Good Tyme”, “Gunna Shine” and a brand new song that nobody never heard except me and the people who was at the concert, off his next upcoming mixtape, supposed to drop in August!

You can see me and Jorge performing the 4 songs “Good Tyme”, “Humility (feat KKOF)”, “Gunna Shine” and “Thrift Squad” on the video above. The quality is kinda messed up on this footage.

Once again, shoutout to Jorge Fuenez for letting me be his hype man and shoutout to Snoopbear/CashBrowns and Jafart coming out, and to every else who came out to support Swagg Tyme Nation. On a bad side note: Afton don’t wanna book us again because they expect us to sell more tickets than what we sold the previous time. Last time, I had to pay my mom, sister, grandma, my dad (who didn’t end up going) tickets and my dad friends payed for a ticket but they didnt show up either and my aunt payed for one and she didnt come either, she did just to help me out but basically, I had to pay 4 tickets which was 10 dollars each myself. I tried to promote and get other people to get tickets to my show but they just ignore it and dont care gets me frustrated, and i’m not the only one who feels this way, so does Jorge but i’m not gonna vent about that issue on this blog.

So watch and enjoy our live performance footage and be on the lookout for Regeneration on June 20th!

Cutting Down My Bars & Verses

First off, Be on the lookout for my new EP “Regeneration: The Hip Hop Recovery” dropping June 20th!

Alright so, you may notice that most of the music you hear today has only 2 verses now. I use to do 3 16 bars verses but now, I figure it is now a waste of my writing time but what I have learned is these tips below:

  • If you are just starting to do Hip Hop music or a new rapper, people today don’t want to hear 3 verses with 8, 12 or 16 bars, the quality might be great but if you a good rapper, you don’t have to settle for Three 16 bar verses. People will know you have the rapping skill and I suggest you do your music with less verses and less bars.
  • Every idea you spit or write can be done in less than 3 verses and less bars.
  • The 3rd verse will not be good because writing ideas run out, when you feel like you struggling on the 3rd verse, that’s a sign telling you that you don’t need to write anymore for that track.
  • Check this out – If your track has 3 verses and you done two verses, you can have another artist placed on a 3rd empty verse. Simple.
  • Also, if the tempo of the track is sorta slower than 65 BPM, you totally don’t need 3 verses for the track. Those usually be long 5 minutes tracks that will make wanna hear something else or might bore you to death!
  •  I learned this -  some people wanna listen to short songs, however, if the song has 3 verses with 16 bars, they don’t wanna hear the rest of the no more so try to keep your song 3 or 4 minutes, keep it short and simple.
  • And last but not least, DJ’s, seriously important so please pay attention – DJ’s don’t really play songs past the 2nd verse of the song, I learn this from a friend who is a DJ, no matter how good the song is, unless it’s a big hit worldwide song but it’s not bad but DJ’s can do that if they like.

Most of you who listens to my new material may have notice that I shorten my verses and bars on my songs. I have now shorten my verses to two verses or sometimes one depending on the kinda song and shorten my bars to either 12 or 8. If i happen to have a 3rd verse on a song, it will be for a guest artist, which is good because sometimes, people wanna hear another artist vocals. Sometimes I do a song with two verses with 16 bars depending on the idea or subject of the song… but for me, I like to do two verses with 8 bars, because they make the song shorter and I won’t run out of writing ideas so that’s why i’m cutting down my bars and verses. No need for 3 long verses for a song for me, gotta keep it short and simple.

For example: “Sounds Like” (2 verses with 8 bars), check it out here, click on the following link: http://youtu.be/BYI_3FcS3EE

STNMixtapeFeed.Blogspot.com

What’s up people,

My promotional staff of Swagg Tyme Nation came up with an idea for a mixtape feed site where people can know what unreleased and info on projects they can look forward to from the STN artists, not only that but if that project is still unreleased and the artist leaks a track from the mixtape before the project is released, you can listen and download the song for free. I liked the idea they came up with and agreed to let them put up a mixtape feed site.

Site: www.STNMixtapeFeed.blogspot.com

Great idea isn’t. Like I said before, the purpose of this site is to update unreleased and released projects with info, track listing and preview leaked tracks from only Swagg Tyme Nation artists. It’s not a blog, it’s a mixtape feed site.

Note: I do NOT control nor have any permission of the site.

So…check the site and stay tuned for more material from me and the STN crew!

K.K.O.F. – Sounds Like Music Video

This is the video of K.K.O.F.’s song “Sounds Like” (Produced By K.K.O.F.)

Song available on K.K.O.F.’s mixtape “Go Hard Or Go Home”, Free Download, click HERE

ABOUT THE SONG:

Usually, I always explain step by step of how I came up with the song but on some real ish, I can’t remember all of how I come up with this song, I forgot when I recorded this song.

Since I can’t remember exactly how I come up with the song and when I come up with it, i’m just gonna go by what I do remember about it. Might not be much insight to the song.

All I know that I was going through some beats that was in my hard drive, I found one beat I wanted to make something boomin but inspirational song from, so I grabbed it and wrote it to it. I wanted to send a message to the rappers that if you a rapper, you don’t have to rap about trapper just to sound like a trap rapper, in case you don’t know what trap rap is, trap rap is negative music about drugs, violence and all that other non-sense. Imma keep it real, I listen to some of the trap music but not all of it, I listen to Gucci Mane (CEO of Bricksquad who made the hit songs “Lemonade”, “Wasted” and more!), who has recently calmed down on some of the trap rap but he also does non-trap rap, which is even better. All the other from Bricksquad is either wannabe trappers or just to hop on Gucci’s and Waka Flocka’s bandwagon. Speaking on Waka, he is signing all of these rappers that has no lyricism, that’s including himself as well but he said himself that he don’t care about lyrics, but one thing for certain, he is indeed a hitmaker, so I can’t front on that.

Anyway, back to the topic….

So the meaning of this song was to tell rap artists that you can use trap beats and make a great song, for me, it’s my specialty. I made a trap beat for my song “Never Been A Lame” and it became a hit song. It’s my most popular ever and i’m proud of what I did, but also to all artist who uses trap beats, be careful about the music you make because some listeners are closed minded, meaning that they will only listen to the beat instead of the whole song together.

For me, I like to put some lyricism and strong messages in trap beats because to me, all of that combines a hit. If the beat is not a catchy and dancey type song, it’s not a hit. Some rappers like to use other beats besides trap beats, but don’t get it twisted, I use other beats too, like pop, rock and jazz type beats but my style is mainly party/dance songs and inspiration catchy song over trap style beats. I had people send me beats that were so wack that I had to trash them. That’s why I have personal producers on my team, like Chris Wayne and JJ Playboi. Both of them has contributed and reached out to me in my music. They are also a part of my success as an artist today.

Dang, I keep going off topic. Oh well, you get the point of the song, I hope.

ABOUT THE VIDEO:

Well, you know i’m back with the bootleg videos, well…you should already know that by now….

For the video, I was planning to do 2 shots in the video but I ended up doing 3. The first two was in my backyard but in two different places, one was on side of my shed where I storage extra stuff and the other scene was next to the shed but at the end of the fence. My backyard is kinda big but not as big as the previous house on Snapfinger, which I moved out on September of last year

The last scene was in my room, I was not gonna shoot that scene but I was kinda bored so I shot it anyway. I kept kinda simple as always.

The total video editing time, 1 hour and 45 minutes at 1am in the morning, smh. I touched the video up with some effects and stuff. Should be good enough for now!

That’s it for now but in the meantime, enjoy this one and please share this video with your friends. More videos coming soon!

K.K.O.F. – Go Hard Or Go Home Video!

This is the song for K.K.O.F.’s “Go Hard Or Go Home” music video!

Song available on this mixtape, click HERE to download for free!

ABOUT THE SONG:

Well, some of you may say that this song is familiar, but if you haven’t previewed or brought my album “The King With Swagga” then you have may not heard this song, which is why I decided to put the song on the mixtape.

It ain’t too much I can say or insight to give about the song but I made this song last year as the introduction for my album “The King With Swagga”, which is last year. Before I first attempted to record the song, I was gonna sell this beat with some help from a former business partner of mine but due to his non-loyalness, I didn’t get a chance to work with him at all. I gave him about 11 beats to help me sell but since that didn’t happen, I just went ahead and sold them myself except the beat itself. I had to bring this conversation up because they how to story started.

So I when ahead, took the beat, wrote to it and recorded the song. It didn’t take long to record it. After I record, I started to think the song was too short but that’s when I made up my mind that i’m gonna start making songs short like that. Why? because I don’t need 3 verse with 16 bars on each song I do. Personally and Musically, when I write a song, I run out of ideas on the 3rd 16 bar verse, so now I do 2 verses with 8 bars because it’s easier that way. I might do 16 bars every once in a while, if I feel like it.

And there it is….

ABOUT THE VIDEO:

Well, the video was a bit simple prior to my previous video Kutta 2 Tymez. I don’t really do too much “over the top” type video no more so what I decided to do on this video was just make it simple as I could. Basically I was little lazy on shooting videos but I manage to make some when i’m bored!

I shot the video in my den in the house with my flip camera on my tripod. I did one scene with the camera titled up while I had to look directly down at the camera, and then the other scene was shot in the regular direction, which is straight. Shooting the video was pretty simple as I said before.

For editing the video, I just put some color effect with a little of iMovie effect with it. It took me about 15 to finish editing the video and there it is, it’s kinda bootleg but that’s the way some of my videos gonna be because sometimes, I get lazy or can’t do a “over the top” video, so it’s for your viewing pleasure and if it’s boring then i’m sorry for you.

I’ll be coming out with more music videos from the “Go Hard Or Go Home” mixtape. Download the mixtape above for FREE!

Next Set Of Upcoming Videos!!

What’s up yall,

Sorry I haven’t been on here much, I don’t really have too much info to blog about at the moment and I been dealing with some life stuff and my music.

So, yall probably been wondering have I been working on new videos, yeah I have but like I said before, don’t expect them to be all fancy and professional because since I moved to another home in Decatur, I have no where to place my green screen, so I don’t know when i’ll be able to do some green screen videos again but all I can is shoot videos without it.

Now the videos i’m working on is for the singles from my latest street tape “Go Hard Or Go Home”. I supposed to release a video last Monday but I got busy and on top of that, my artist/cousin Yung KK comes over my house uninvited or unexpectedly, for no reason without calling me, just to record his songs. I don’t mean to sound mean but the point is if you plan to come over my crib, please contact me first before coming over so I can know ahead of time. He lives around the corner but popping up anytime at my house without letting me know first really pisses me off, unless your my girlfriend than yeah but if not, no one should come over my house without contacting me.

Anyway, back to the topic…

I planning to shoot some videos this weekend. I’m gonna do a video from the 2 minute song off the “Go Hard Or Go Home” mixtape, which is by the way is my 2nd most downloaded mixtape ever, behind my 2nd mixtape I release last year, The Redprint. After I put out that video, I might do a video for tracks like “Sounds Like”, “Get Back” and everyone favorite love song “Q.K.O.F.”

So, Be expecting the mixtape titled song “Go Hard Or Go Home” music video sometime next week. That’s it for today!

INSIGHT INTO THE MIXTAPE:

Well, after making the last and final series of the Redprint mixtapes, I decided to end it with this mixtape called “Go Hard Or Go Home”, and also making a response mixtape to my non-selling debut album The King With Swagga. The Redprint was an OK mixtape but i kind of rush that mixtape, and I kinda felt that people was not feeling it like the last two RP mixtapes. While working on other stuff, I was thinking about my album TKWS, it had low sales and regret putting that album on itunes, i kinda worked hard on that album, the song Carbon Copyz from the album was the only song that was selling on Amazon but on the itunes side, the song Cookie Monster Man sold a few copys, which was an unserious song i made 5 years ago.

So after I analyzed the songs were not selling on iTunes and Amazon, I decided to put 4 of my songs from that album that I worked so hard on my the “Go Hard Or Go Home” mixtape, for free. The song from TKWS album were “Fresh”, Carbon Copyz”, “Life Without You” and “Go Hard Or Go Home”, I believe these songs deserve some notoriety and attention because like I said before, I really worked HARD on songs and I refuse to let them go to waste.

Also wasn’t gonna do put old songs on the mixtape but mix them up with some new material. I think this is one of my best mixtapes I ever made, because some of my life I put into these songs and the mixtape took me almost 2 months to finish. There’s a message in some of the tracks and this mixtape is something for everyone, like family, friends, the club, parties, etc…

All I got to say is that this mixtape should’ve been an album and I promise you will like this mixtape, if not, then you got to be a hater. This is my life into music and me exposing all the fakeness going on today. So please help me out by download the tape and enjoy!
